The mission of the Mary Lin PTA

1. To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in
   the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.

2. To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect
   their children.

3. To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

WHAT DOES THE PTA DO?

• LISTENS to parents' concerns and ideas for a better Mary Lin

• RAISES FUNDS for new programs, teacher improvement, needed school supplies and grounds beautification that school budgets don't provide (computer equipment, science lab materials, class garden project, grounds beautification, etc.)

• TALKS TO LEGISLATORS to make sure that educating our children is a top priority in the City, County, State and National budget process

• WORKS with volunteers to make Mary Lin a beautiful and safe environment for kids to learn

$5 is all it costs to join the PTA! That five dollars goes a long way in helping keep Mary Lin strong. Parents, grandparents, teachers and administrators are all valuable to a successful PTA. With your membership and involvement we insure that our families and government officials keep focused on excellence for Mary Lin Elementary.

EVENTS
Candler Park FallFest
This annual event is held in October and is the biggest and best event around. The PTA raises money by organizing the Children's Activity Area at this weekend-long festival. Learn more about the FallFest by clicking here.

Shoot for the Stars Auction (see webpage here)
Held in the spring, this event brings people together to bid on area business services, prizes, goods and special treats (like a trip to the Zoo with your favorite teacher!) Besides the auction, there is music, food and drink from terrific local sponsors. This is the PTA's major fundraiser for the year and provides the bulk of the money used to improve Mary Lin.
